About

MIDDEN is a 3-player trick-taking card game where you don't just want to win tricks — you want to win the right tricks. Each round you receive 7 cards and one secret aim that defines your private scoring goal. When you win a trick you choose one card from it to file into your pile, scored at round end against your aim. Once per round you may spend a card as a Stamp instead of playing it: peek at an opponent's aim, claim two cards on your next win, swap a card between hand and pile, remove a pile card, or set a face-down wild. Pick a theme before you play: • The Bureau of Forgotten Things — bureaucratic clerks cataloging the things humans lose • SHIVER: The Apex Hunt — apex predators stalking the four seas Play solo against AI, or share a 4-letter room code with up to two friends. AI fills empty seats.

How to play

Each round you draw 7 cards and one secret scoring goal. Six tricks are played; you must follow the led suit if you can; the highest card of the led suit wins. The trick winner files one card from the trick into their pile (Cabinet in Bureau, Territory in SHIVER). At round end every player's filed cards are scored against their secret goal — there are 18 different goals rewarding different shapes (suit specialist, rank extremes, consecutive runs, exact card counts, complementary pairs, etc.). Once per round you may use a Stamp instead of playing a card: spend the card to trigger its bottom-half effect. The five Stamps are: peek at a goal, claim 2 cards next win, swap hand↔pile, remove a pile card, or set a face-down wild. After 4 rounds the highest cumulative score wins.
